If your child struggles to get through the school day, an assistant can help – in class, during breaks and on school trips. In Germany this is called Schulbegleitung or Integrationshilfe. For you as parents it costs nothing.
An adult person who accompanies your child during the school day. They help with concentration, structure, social situations and orientation. They do not teach and they are not a tutor – they support your child so that your child can take part in class.
Nothing. 0 euros. The cost is paid by the responsible public office – either the youth welfare office of your town (§35a SGB VIII) or Kreis Recklinghausen (§112 SGB IX). Your income is not checked and there is no personal contribution.
You as parents. The school can suggest it and support you with a written statement, but the school cannot apply. The application itself can be informal – a short letter is enough. We help you with it, free of charge.
Usually six to twelve weeks, depending on the office and on how complete your documents are. You can apply at any time – also in the middle of the school year.
Yes. Parents have the right to choose (Wunsch- und Wahlrecht). After approval you decide which provider accompanies your child – and you may also change to a different provider later.
Children with a disability or with a special need for support – for example autism, ADHD, anxiety, or a physical or intellectual disability. What matters is the individual need, not the diagnosis alone.
